Project Description

The I-205/Portland Mall LRT Project, known as the Green Line, opened September 12, 2009. The 8.3 mile double track project connects southeast Portland neighborhoods along Interstate 205, introduced light rail into Clackamas County and revitalized Portland’s downtown transit mall to Portland State University. The total Project cost was $575.7M. The Project was funded by the Federal Transit Administration (72%), state transportation funds (4%) and local funds (24%).

SG&A Scope of Work/Challenges
Steve Greene & Associates worked with South Corridor Constructors (SCC) to provide monthly oversight on the work performed by the design team on this design build project. SG&A assisted with the negotiations with the design team, reviewed design schedules, interviewed project design staff, and prepared monthly reports on the status of design from a third party perspective.

Success Story
The efforts performed by SG&A were successful and led to the success of the overall Project. In this situation, the contractor involved was concerned about the design team efforts and the design arena overall. SG&A provided the information necessary for the contractor to make informed decisions.
