MANAGEMENT PLANS
Rail Activation Plan, MTA Double Track Project, Baltimore, MD
Project Description
The Project was approximated at $150 M and included the design and construction necessary to double track nearly all of MTA’s existing light rail system. The funding for this Project was a combination of Federal Transit Administration funds and Maryland Department of Transportation funds. The Project consists of eliminating single track sections of the system by adding a second track, hence “double tracking”. The modifications were divided into eight independent Project Sections with a combined length of approximately 9.4 miles. Modifications were made to the trackwork and electrification system in addition to new signaling and communications systems. Further, vehicle modifications and changes at the Light Rail Control Center were included in the Project.
SG&A Scope of Work/Challenges
SG&A was contracted to provide services as requested which included the review and edit of safety and security documents, rail activation documents, management plans, and other documents as necessary.
Success Story
SG&A was initially brought on board to review various project management documents but after an initial review of the Rail Activation Plan, the scope of work evolved into SG&A re-writing the entire Rail Activation Plan. Rail activation on this project was accomplished successfully.
